Here are some of the questions I got asked today by my 10 year olds in Scripture:
'Did everyone come from Adam and Eve?'
'Who made God?'
'How did God make the world?'
'When did you start to follow Jesus?'
But as great as these questions were because of the opportunities they gave me, one question in particular stood out today:
Student 1: 'Do you have a wife?'
Me: 'No'
Student 2: 'But you are handsome'
Me: 'Um...err....(speechless)...thanks'
Flattery aside, it was interesting that Students 1 & 2 were both male...and equally interesting that kids equate physical attractiveness with one's marriagability...(I think I just invented a new word). And even more interesting that we don't move much beyond this mentality in our adult years.
Listen to kids. They often show us what we think as adults. They are just more open and honest about it.

There must be more to it cos I think you're dead sexy, but I can't marry you!
Good looks just mean a trail of broken hearts, to which I can add my own (sniff, sniff)...
And did I mention famous?? You were breaking hearts all over College! Everyone can't be wrong can they???
marriagability, nice, I like it, easy to use.
I also find it interesting that we tend to link people together with other people who are in similar categories of attractiveness (according to man's standards). For instance, we expect that a very attractive lady should marry a very attractive man, not just a man of average or mediocre attraction.
Even my own mother told me that I was too pretty for my first boyfriend a couple years after we broke up. haha... ?!
I agree though... I think it's so neat how kids can be so ungaurded about sharing what is on their minds.
